TRAIL acts synergistically with iron oxide nanocluster-mediated magneto- and photothermia
2019
International audience; Targeting TRAIL (Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand) receptors for cancer therapy remains challenging due to tumor cell resistance and poor preparations of TRAIL or its derivatives. Herein, to optimize its therapeutic use, TRAIL was grafted onto iron oxide nanoclusters (NCs) with the aim of increasing its pro-apoptotic potential through nanoparticle-mediated magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) or photothermia (PT). Methods: The nanovector, NC@TRAIL, was characterized in terms of size, grafting efficiency, and potential for MHT and PT. The therapeutic function was assessed on a TRAIL-resistant breast cancer cell line, MDA-MB-231, wild type (WT) or T…
Raman Investigations to Identify Corallium rubrum in Iron Age Jewelry and Ornaments
2016
International audience; During the Central European Iron Age, more specifically between 600 and 100 BC, red precious corals (Corallium rubrum) became very popular in many regions, often associated with the so-called (early) Celts. Red corals are ideally suited to investigate several key questions of Iron Age research, like trade patterns or social and economic structures. While it is fairly easy to distinguish modern C. rubrum from bone, ivory or shells, archaeologists are confronted with ancient, hence altered, artifacts. Due to ageing processes, archaeological corals lose their intensive red color and shiny surface and can easily be confused with these other light colored materials. We pr…
Sustainable Recycling of Insoluble Rust Waste for the Synthesis of Iron-Containing Perovskite-Type Catalysts
2019
Insoluble rust waste from the scraping of rusted iron-containing materials represents a cheap, eco-friendly, and available source of iron. LaFeO3 perovskite-type powders were successfully prepared by solution combustion synthesis using rust waste from an electricity transmission tower manufacturer. Solution combustion synthesis enabled introduction of this insoluble iron precursor directly into the final product, bypassing complex extraction procedures. Catalytic activity in the propylene oxidation of the waste-derived LaFeO3 with stoichiometric Fe/La ratio was almost identical to the commercial iron nitrate-derived LaFeO3 , thus demonstrating the viability of this recycling solution. The a…
Salt exploitation, communication routes and territory during the Iron Age around the Cabriel river valley
2020
Improved High-Fidelity IPMSM mathematical model Including Saturation, Cross-Coupling, Torque Ripple and Iron Loss effects
2022
For enhanced control algorithm design purposes, accurate and high-fidelity electrical machine mathematical models are fundamentals. Usually, accurate evaluation of electrical machine behaviour requires finite element analysis (FEA) with consequent high-computational times. This paper presents an improved high-fidelity Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) mathematical model including saturation, cross-coupling, torque ripple and iron loss effects. This model has been implemented in Matlab®/Simulink environment and its parameters are implemented by the use of lookup tables. To validate the modelling approach proposed, a comparative analysis between the proposed Matlab®/Simuli…
Autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia – similarities between the two disorders with a case report of a patient with dual diagnosis
2023
This paper presents the genetic, molecular and neuroanatomical similarities between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and schizophrenia using the case report of a 34-year-old female patient with a previous diagnosis of schizophrenia as an example. As a result of repeat hospitalization, expanded history, psychological testing and verification of persistent symptoms of psychopathology, a cooccurring diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder was made.
Ancient architecture in Provence between the Iron Age and the Imperial era: the pillars of the Château-Bas site in Vernègues
2013
The site of Château-Bas (Vernègues, Bouches-du-Rhône), famous above all for its Augustan Roman temple, has yielded a set of pillars decorated either with writhing snakes or with straight rods. As yet there are no known parallels to such pillars. The discovery of a fragment of a pillar reused in a 1st c. AD structure demonstrates that these carvings are ancient. The architectural study of the fragments and comparison with other sculptural elements from southern Gaul suggest they date approximately to the turn of the millenium. The originality of these pieces should perhaps be sought in the copying and adaptation of Italic architectural features (Attic base, Tuscan capital) to a particular fo…
Effects of ectopic expression of NGAL on doxorubicin sensitivity.
2012
Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL, a.k.a Lnc2) is a member of the lipocalin family which has diverse roles including stabilizing matrix metalloproteinase-9 from auto-degradation and as siderocalins which are important in the transport of iron. NGAL also has important biological functions involved in immunity and inflammation as well as responses to kidney damage. NGAL expression has also been associated with certain neoplasia and is important in the metastasis of breast cancer. Many advanced cancer patients have elevated levels of NGAL in their urine and it has been proposed that NGAL may be a prognostic indicator for certain cancers (e.g. breast, brain, and others). NGAL exp…
Johtosävelen tuolla puolen : aiolinen sointukulku populaarimusiikissa
2013
Tässä tutkielmassa tutkitaan yhdenlaista aiolista sointukulkua populaarimusiikissa. Sointukulus-sa ensimmäinen sointu i ja viimeinen sointu bVII aste.
